Business referral offers I actually use as a freelancer

Over the years, I’ve tested quite a few tools, cards, banking products, and travel schemes while running my freelance web development business in London. Here is my list of useful business rewards and referral offers for UK contractors or Ltd owners.

Business travel & rewards

British Airways OnBusiness (free points for your business)

The free British Airways OnBusiness programme lets you collect OnBusiness points for your company when flying for business, on top of your personal Avios account. In other words, you can often collect rewards twice on the same flight.

You can join as a freelancer, contractor, or limited company owner.

You can currently get 1,500 free OnBusiness points when joining with the On Business member referral code: OB14433405

Rakuten cashback (works for business or personal purchases)

This is probably one of the easiest ways to reduce costs.

I use Rakuten for both business and personal spending. If you buy train tickets, software, office equipment, groceries, gifts, or book travel online, there is a good chance the retailer is on there.

Spend £50 (excluding VAT) and get a £25 bonus, plus % cashback on your purchases. (Qualifying purchases need to be made within 90 days of joining to get the £25).

American Express Business Platinum

If you run a limited company or LLP and travel sometimes, this can be super valuable.

There is currently a very large welcome offer available until 21 July 2026.

If approved and you spend £6,000 in the first 3 months of Cardmembership, you can currently earn 90,000 Membership Rewards points, which can be converted into Avios, hotel loyalty schemes, or sometimes even cashback options.

For me, the card is about much more than points.

The Business Platinum card includes:

It is available to UK LTD and LLP businesses. You must be 18+ and a director/member of the business. Approval is subject to status. Interest, annual fee and terms apply.

Get 500 free Avios from the Avios app

This one is extremely easy.

You can get 500 free Avios just by downloading the Avios app and completing a qualifying activity.

Simple little bonus if you collect Avios already.

Get rewards on your rent with Ribbon Rewards

If you rent your home, this is a nice passive perk.

I use Ribbon Rewards to earn points when paying rent. You can redeem the rewards as gift cards for places like Amazon, Eurostar and many others.

You currently get £25 worth of bonus points on your first month, and then 1% back on rent payments ongoing.

Business accounts & finance

Monzo Business (£50 welcome offer)

If you want a simple business account with a clean app and good budgeting features, Monzo Business is worth considering.

Get £50 when you open an account and make a card payment within 30 days. (ATM withdrawals and money transfers do not qualify.)

Tide business account

I use Tide for business savings and cashflow management.

One thing I do is keep money aside for the tax man there, rather than leaving everything mixed together in the main account. It also earns a small amount of interest.

You can currently get £100 when opening a Tide account and spending £500+ within 90 days.

Revolut Business

Revolut Business can be useful if you work internationally, pay contractors abroad, travel often, or want extra flexibility for business spending.

There is often an invitation reward available, which we can share.

Running your business

PolicyBee business insurance

Business insurance is not the most exciting thing to spend money on, but for freelancers, contractors and consultants, it often becomes necessary.

If you need professional indemnity insurance, public liability insurance or business cover, PolicyBee is one option worth checking.

You can currently get £20 when taking out business insurance.

Proton (email, storage & privacy)

I also use Proton for some privacy-focused tools while travelling and working remotely.

If you want secure email, cloud storage, a password manager or VPN tools for business use, Proton is worth a look.
